Study finds link between regular meals and an increased risk of metabolic syndrome

According to a recent study by Swedish experts, eating regularly, ie with a certain order and “discipline” is a key point to prevent metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance in adulthood.

According to global statistics, metabolic syndrome affects 20 to 30 percent of the adult population that is apparently healthy.

Recall that this condition is given by a series of symptoms, such as higher sugar and blood lipids, reducing the level of HDL cholesterol, commonly called “good”, a rise in blood pressure and fat accumulated in the abdominal region.

The truth is that people who suffer from this syndrome are at much greater risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Also, another of the most common causes that trigger this problem is insulin resistance, which occurs when some organs of the body stop responding to this hormone.

The researchers at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute analyzed more than 4,000 people with an average age of 60.

It took into account her overall health and their eating habits, and this first analysis, it appeared that those men and women who did not respect a timetable for breakfast, lunch and / or dinner, they were more likely to have wide waist normal and blood fat levels higher.

Similarly, they found that people with irregular habits had an increased risk of developing insulin resistance.

The authors emphasized that their study was the first to take and analyze the relationship between regularity of meals and the metabolic syndrome, and the first time that has found a relationship between the two. From here, they hope these results encourage more orderly eating habits and regular.
